CPD Points

Understanding CPD
CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. It refers to the ongoing process of maintaining, improving, and developing professional knowledge, skills, competence, and expertise throughout a person’s career.
CPD activities can include structured training, professional education, workshops, research, practical learning, independent study, reflective practice, and other educational activities designed to support professional growth.
Our Role in CPD Accreditation
Course Accreditation independently reviews and accredits training courses and educational programmes submitted by training providers.
As part of our accreditation process, CPD Points may be allocated to courses following assessment against our internal CPD allocation methodology.
We do not deliver or provide the training unless otherwise stated by the course provider. Our role is to assess the educational value, learning outcomes, and estimated learning time associated with a course and allocate CPD Points accordingly.
How CPD Points Are Allocated
Our CPD allocation methodology is primarily based on total learning time. This includes guided learning delivered by a tutor, trainer, or educator, together with additional learning activities that form part of the programme requirements.
Each course or programme submitted for accreditation is reviewed individually to ensure that the allocated CPD Points accurately reflect the overall learning time, educational value, and professional development outcomes achieved by participants.
Additional Learning Activities Considered
- Independent or at-home study
- Reading and research activities
- Case studies
- Practical assignments
- Portfolio development
- Written assessments
- Reflective learning exercises
- Practical application of skills and techniques
Transparency & Educational Integrity
Our CPD accreditation and allocation process is designed to maintain fairness, transparency, consistency, and educational integrity.
CPD Points allocated through our assessment process are intended to reflect the learning undertaken within a course or programme.
CPD is not governed by a single UK-wide regulatory body. CPD Points allocated by Course Accreditation represent points awarded under our independent assessment methodology and should not be interpreted as government approval, regulatory endorsement, statutory recognition, or automatic acceptance by any third-party organisation.
Recognition of CPD Points
CPD recognition requirements may vary between employers, professional bodies, membership organisations, insurers, regulatory authorities, and licensing organisations.
Learners and training providers should confirm any profession-specific CPD requirements before relying on CPD Points for membership, registration, licensing, employment, or compliance purposes.
